Captive portal – Wikipedia

In the past I wrote a few articles containing information about Captive Portals, but I forgot mentioning that the article Captive portal – Wikipedia exists.
Got reminded to this by these tweets about Apple not using the default browser when displaying the Captive Portal page:
- [Wayback/Archive] Mysk ๐จ๐ฆ๐ฉ๐ช on X: “When you join a Wi-Fi network that shows a captive portal on the iPhone, iOS opens the captive portal in a Safari web view regardless of which default browser you’ve chosen. This little experiment implements a captive portal that detects the browser. Brave was the default”
- [Wayback/Archive] Mysk ๐จ๐ฆ๐ฉ๐ช on X: “@jpluimers @Vanilla4729 You need to join a Wi-Fi network that shows a captive portal. I use a Flipper Zero with Marauder firmware installed on the Wi-Fi module to create such a Wi-Fi network.”

- [Wayback/Archive] Mysk ๐จ๐ฆ๐ฉ๐ช on X: “@Vanilla4729 @jpluimers There’s no standard. This is how Android detects it:”
[Wayback] Captive portal API support ย |ย Android Developers
- [Wayback/Archive] S on X: “@Vanilla4729 @mysk_co @jpluimers Afaik you just need to spoof DNS of
captive.apple.com, that’s how Apple check it”
