Bookmarklet to save a page both in the WayBack machine and Archive.is (ending on the latter to solve a reCAPTCHA)
Posted by jpluimers on 2023/08/22
TL;DR:
javascript:{h=location.href;open('https://archive.is/?run=1&url='+encodeURIComponent(h));location.href='https://web.archive.org/save/'+(h)}
This saves the current page both in the WayBack Machine, and ends up on the newly opened tab that saves it in Archive.is. Since Archive.is very often asks to solve a reCAPTCHA, I chose to have that tab open instead of the WayBack Machine tab, despite the latter having a save-limit of about 5 pages at a time.
The above Bookmarklet is a combination of two earlier posts:
- For my reading list: some links on Twitter bookmarklets
- Archive.is is more like a thread unroll service than an archival service
The code is at [Wayback/Archive] Bookmarklet so save page in both the Wayback Machine and Archive.is (Archive Today):
