PDF printer drivers

Posted by jpluimers on 2010/09/17

Below is a list of PDF printer drivers, some of which I still need to check out.

Anyone having additions to the list or comments, please be welcome.

  • FreePDF (free; used often, prints anything)
  • Adobe PDF writer (paid; used till version 4.something when it started to fiddle with embedded fonts)
  • doPDF (free for non-commercial use) / novaPDF (same manufacturer as doPDF, paid)
  • Bullzip (free; requires GhostScript; need to check out)
  • pdf995 (free; need to check out)
  • primoPDF (free; need to check out)
  • qvPDF (free and opensource; need to check out)
  • PDFcreator (free and opensource; need to check out)
  • CutePDF (free; requires a PS2PDF converter like GhostScript)

I use Windows systems ranging from XP until the current versions (with an occasional journey back to Windows 2000 or Windows NT 4).

FreePDF works on that range, but requires GhostScript.
On the other hand it has processed everything I needed to just fine.

So this research list is quite low in priority.

PS: This superuser.com question has a slightly longer list of PDF solutions.
