Still struggling with some PowerPoint 2007+ features (:
Posted by jpluimers on 2013/07/08
After having used the “classic” office since Office 95, there are still a few features that I can access blindly in Office 2003 and before, but have a hard time remembering in Office 2007 and beyond.
Most of those are the ones you rarely use, but the “classic office way” somehow made it in the autonomous nervous system.
It doesn’t help that the corresponding keyboard shortcuts fail to work in the “modern” Office versions any more either.
A few links on some PowerPoint features:
- PowerPoint 2007 Default Font – Change the Default Font In PowerPoint 2007.
- Set new formatting defaults for a shape or text box – PowerPoint – Office.com.
- Change the default bullet or numbering style – PowerPoint – Office.com.
- Turn the snap to grid and snap to object options on or off – Outlook – Office.com.
- How to Create Color Schemes in PowerPoint to Match Your Brand » The Rapid eLearning Blog.
- I want to apply a template to an existing presentation – PowerPoint – Office.com.
(solution: apply a theme, then select an existing template and use that as theme, then check the Slide Master and Layouts for any leftovers from the old template) - There are bugs in the Slide Master / Layout binding for at least the position of the date/footer/# items.
- Make sure you do all your font changes in the Slide Master, that way the Layout will follow most of the times.
- If Slide Master / Layout binding fails, then make a new Slide Master (the Layouts will follow) and apply the layout changes from the old to the new.
