Oval car stickers – translating to ISO 3166-1

A while ago, I had to translate from the country codes used on cars to ISO country codes, so here are a few links:

What’s the deal with those white oval-shaped bumper stickers? Good question! The usage of these white oval decals originated in Europe in the early 20th century.
- The requirements for having a country code on your vehicle (either on both number plates or on a white oval sticker: large ones for cars, small ones for motorcycles) comes from the Vienna Convention on Road Traffic – Wikipedia
- If you do not have it on your number plate (like for instance Swiss cars), you have to have the oval sticker when traveling abroad as you can get fined and some countries are very picky on fining: [WayBack] CH sticker on back of car – English Forum Switzerland
