This is very handy on testing your software on multiple versions of FireBird.
Now someone that expands this to InterBase as well :-)

As of InterBase version 7.51 the installer will ask if you want to install multiple verions of InterBase and then gives you the option to specify your services name and port number.
So IB751 can be called gds_751 with port 3050 and IB2007 gds_2007 and port 3070.
Then you can specify in your connection string (at least with IBObject, FIBPlus and IBDac) your server and service and the path to the gds32.dll (Normally \bin.
So you can test your software against multiple versions of InterBase with the correct gds32.dll.

Since FireBird 2.1, you can do the same.
This scripts actually switches between FireBird versions. That way you can easily test single-instance installations which can also be valuable for InterBase.
Your point about the correct gds32.dll is actually very important: it is the other part where the version dependency sits.
I’ll make a quick comment about that on the original post.
