The Europen evening premier of Frozen Planet in Concert: acoustic OK, video + composers’ introductions great

Posted by jpluimers on 2013/04/14

The Europen evening premier of Frozen Planet in Concert was much fun, and great to see the antarctic species we encountered alive at the big screen.

But the Ziggo Dome venue was too large to provide the right acoustic for a symphony orchestra like this Het Gelders Orkest. The sound was OK. Great though were the video footage, the humble introductions by the composer/conductor himself and Dutch translations by presenter Sacha de Boer.

Last two years (and hopefully next week “Return of the King”) the sound of Rotterdams Philharmonisch Orkest playing Lord of the Rings Live in De Doelen had awesome acoustic.

The Ziggo Dome should work on their acoustic system to match De Doelen.

My Delphi conferences this fall: DelphiTage.de, ITDevCon.it, no EKON (entwickler-konferenz.de)

Posted by jpluimers on 2012/09/19

Nicolette and me on the Antarctic peninsulaWhile scheduling this year’s projects, it was clear that it would become impossible to have the summer holiday in the summer (last year was also outside, as we fulfilled Nicolette’s dream: visit the Antarctic region).

So we moved this year’s holiday to early November, hoping that would be outside the Fall conference season.

Alas, EKON (Entwickler-Konferenz.de), this year in Düsseldorf, Germany, moved themselves to November, so this will be the first EKON ever that I won’t attend (out of 3 or 4 people that never missed one). Sorry guys I will miss the great speakers, sessions and workshops (:

I am going to speak on two other European Delphi conferences though:

I’m really looking forward meeting the attendees, speakers and organizations there. Conferences are always a lot of fun and a great way for me of learning new things.

Trouble with Google Reader and GEXperts RSS feed :)

Posted by jpluimers on 2011/12/07

While catching up my feeds after an astonishing holiday around the Antarctic Peninsula (some photos at Flickr), I bumped into a Google Reader issue with the GExperts.com RSS feed: all posts seem to be stamped 20111117T0555.

Funny, as I remember being late to report GExperts 1.35 for Delphi XE2 was released a while a go :)

It reminded me to ask Thomas to publish the XE2 version of his Experimental GExperts build though.

Lets hope he is faster than me catching up :)

About to embark on the Akademik Sergey Vavilov in Ushuaia, Argentina for our antarctic adventure!

A great ship, still actively used for research purposes. We’re really looking forward to what we are going to see and do!
