Sciences jokes…

Posted by jpluimers on 2013/09/20

Came accross the Chemistry Cat jokes on  quickmeme, some of which are more generic science jokes than chemistry ones.

The ones I like most:

  1. PageTeach me about absolutely zero
    0K

How often do you like chemistry jokes?
    Periodically

What to do with a sick chemist?
    If you can’t helium, and
    you can’t curium then
    you might as well barium.

    I studied exothermic reactions
    before they were cool.

  2. PageHOH HOH HOH
    Water joke

    Blew my chemistry experiment
    Oxidents happen

Is silicon the same in Spanish
    Si

    Neutron wants to pay tab
    Bartender: no charge for you

  3. PageChemistry puns
    I’m in my element

    Chemistry jokes
    are elemental

Windows Timer Resolution: Megawatts Wasted (via: Random ASCII)

Posted by jpluimers on 2013/07/11

Don’t increase your Windows Timer Resolution. And keep an eye on programs that do:

Raising the Windows timer frequency is bad. It wastes power and makes your computer slower. Routinely doing this in all sorts of programs that end up sitting idle for hours really needs to stop.

You can use ClockRes to monitor the time resolution and what programs changed it.

The Lenovo re-introduction of IPS in 14-inch models after almost a decade of absence is a farce

Posted by jpluimers on 2013/07/09

A decade ago, Lenovo had top-notch IPS displays with (back then high) DPI of 133 in some of their laptops called FlexView and FFS.

A constant source of confusion: Simplicity

Posted by jpluimers on 2013/06/27

Once every while you come across a post that is so good, you add another feed to your RSS list. This time I added Su-Shee’s posts,

Quote from: A constant source of confusion: Simplicity.

what is it really about all this simplicity stuff

It is a post about IT development. Teams. Platforms. Tools. Frameworks. Etc.

Striking a balance to keep things simple enough to be manageable is always key and her examples are just great!

c# – What’s the hardest or most misunderstood aspect of LINQ? – Stack Overflow

Posted by jpluimers on 2013/05/07

It is such a pity that StackOverflow is not the place any more for questions like these:

c# – What’s the hardest or most misunderstood aspect of LINQ? – Stack Overflow.

These questions and answers historically got me most of the insight from SO.

Alas, no more.

Way too much “friendly comment” SPAM lately. “Spam, lovely Spam, wonderful Spam.”

Posted by jpluimers on 2013/04/25

Since about 2 months, I get truckloads of friendly comments indicating my blog is so wonderful that gets through Aksimet.

I’m not alone: one spammer posted his full spam script on Scott Hanselmans blog, and of course, Scott blogged about it: Exposed A Blog Comment Spammers Source Template

Not so cool.

Cool:
