History worth showing: How to send an email — 80’s style – Gmail – Google+
22 years ago, this was on TV in a series called Database, with this episode presented by Jane Ashton.
Some of the things you will see:
- Rotary Phone
- B6312 phone connectors
- Miracle Technology WS 2000 modem the size of a brick compatible with a whopping speed of the V.23 protocol at 1200/75 baud
- Prestel (the Viewdata from the Post Office in the UK compatible with Videotext)
- 4 digit passwords
- Micronet 800
- mailbox 019994875
- Software Transmissions (now decoded digitally with a project on GitHub) for the BBC Micro, ZX81, ZX Spectrum and Commodore 64, VIC-20 and Dragon
At first I thought the printer was an Epson FX-80, but it isn’t (it uses a different font and has plastic paper guidance). If anyone recognises the printer make and model, please let me know.
