Nuking resources from (sandbox) AWS accounts
Posted by jpluimers on 2024/04/02
I will need this one day as keeping resources up for sandbox or test accounts can cost a lot when things do not happen according to plan:
- [Wayback/Archive] GitHub – gruntwork-io/cloud-nuke: A tool for cleaning up your cloud accounts by nuking (deleting) all resources within it
- [Wayback/Archive] rebuy-de/aws-nuke: Nuke a whole AWS account and delete all its resources.
Both have been written in golang.
Warning: these can be abused, wreak havoc when accidentally used in production, or not even delete all (it’s software; there might be bugs).
Via:
- [Wayback/Archive] Andreas Lehr on Twitter: “The tip of today is “cloud nuke”. It completely wipes all resources in a single AWS account or just delete all entities in a pre-defined AWS Region. Check it out and be careful. 👉 GitHub:
gruntwork-io/cloud-nuke#opensource #aws” / Twitter - [Wayback/Archive] Jan Katins on Twitter: “@shakalandy @isotopp Alternative:
rebuy-de/aws-nuke(exclude resources by tagging them; we use that to clean up our sandbox accounts nightly)”
