From last year, but the blog queue was deep (:
TL;DR: defaults not the same for Chrome and Edge; modifiers differ between Chrome and Edge.
[Wayback/Archive] New and More Screenshot and Screen Recording Keyboard Shortcuts Now Available! – Awesome Screenshot Blog
We’re pleased to announce that version 4.4.32 of our extension introduces convenient keyboard shortcuts for your most-used features.
Default Shortcuts
Function Shortcuts Capture > Visible Part Alt+Shift+V Capture > Full Page Alt+Shift+F Capture > Selected Area Alt+Shift+S Start Recording Desktop Alt+Shift+R …
I was worried it would clash with shortcuts in existing web-sites or extensions, so I was glad the blog post continued explaining how to change the settings in two ways:
- Via the options from the extension itself which you can access at
- Chrome:
chrome-extension://nlipoenfbbikpbjkfpfillcgkoblgpmj/option-react.html - Edge:
extension://gpmljinohlbfgmeoaeceoajachkabijo/option-react.html
- Chrome:
Click “Set shortcuts” in Options.
- The above choice leads you to the browser’s shortcut page settings, which you can also access directly:
- Chrome:
chrome://extensions/shortcuts - Edge:
edge://extensions/shortcuts
Note that the modifier keys are different between Chrome and Edge. This is how they were configured:
-
Chrome Shortcuts Shortcut Function ⌥⇧V Capture > Visible Part ⌥⇧F Capture > Full Page ⌥⇧S Capture > Selected Area -
Edge Shortcuts Shortcut Function ⌃⌘E Activate the extension ⌃⌘R Pause / Resume recording ⌃⌘S Start / Stop Recording
The odd thing was that:
- Chrome:
⌥⇧Eand⌥⇧Ewere not configured - Edge:
⌃⌘Vand⌃⌘Fwere not configured
- Chrome:
Cool find
The cool thing about Edge is that you can also use the chrome:// prefix which it will auto-translate to the edge:// variant. How cool is that!
