Some Apple ][, ][plus, IIe, IIc links
Posted by jpluimers on 2013/12/20
Some of you might remember that Apple ][ plus and Apple IIe was part of my early programming days.
I vividly remember the Vlasveld Computers shop in Leiden (back then at Morsweg 21 in Leiden), then ran by Aad Vlasveld as one of the first Apple dealers in The Netherlands. Back then I barely could afford floppy disks, but a few months ago I was able to buy the hardware we used at high school.
Well, I bought an Apple IIe from (from a private person as ClassicComputerShop.eu failed to react in time), so here are some links to stuff I’ve used: Read the rest of this entry »

“Hoogtes” waar ik gewoond heb / “Altitudes” of where I have been living
Posted by jpluimers on 2013/12/09
(English translation below)
Edit 20230510 – added new URLs after the AHN viewer moved from ahn.geodan.nl to new domains ahn.arcgisonline.nland www.ahn.nl.
Nederlands
http://ahn.geodan.nl/ahn/viewer3/zoekpc.php?postcode=1060NPhttps://ahn.arcgisonline.nl/ahnviewer/?find=1060NP
English
Most of The Netherlands is below sea level, including most of the places I lived, but I didn’t know how far from N.A.P. “sea level” that was.
By coincidence, I found out that it is easy to find this relative altitude by Dutch poascal code with a URL like this:
http://ahn.geodan.nl/ahn/viewer3/zoekpc.php?postcode=1060NPhttps://ahn.arcgisonline.nl/ahnviewer/?find=1060NP
It will get you a result like this, where the last number indicates altitude:
Volgens AHN2 is de gemiddelde hoogte in postcodegebied 1060NP -1.8 m.
(By now – 2023 – no text with average altitude, but if you click you get the measured altitude value)
Below is a list of postal codes where I lived or where my post got delivered.
So I lived most of my life below sea level, but was born above it (:
As a bonus, I also found AHN Viewer and AHN [Wayback/Archive] AHN Viewer | AHN (does not allow URL parameters) and [Wayback/Archive] AHN-viewer (allows URL parameters, see [Wayback/Archive] ahn.arcgisonline.nl/ahnviewer/Release_notes_versie_2_februari_2019.pdf).
There is even a postal code tool, but it does not support URL parameters: [Wayback/Archive] Postcodetool
Postcodes / Postal codes
- [Wayback/Archive] AHN-viewer 1060NP

Jeffrey’s Exif viewer: a great non-regex thing on regex.info (:
Posted by jpluimers on 2013/09/19
You’d think that the regex.info site only has information on Jeffrey Friedl’s Mastering Regular Expressions (a great book on RegEx programming) MRE2 Errata, MRE3 Errata and Where to get egrep (agrep and sourcecode/binary builds).
Not so (:
It also hosts a few other things, mostly having to do with imagery or photography:
- Jeffrey’s Exif viewer, which is a great way of viewing EXIF information on both image URLs, and image files (far better than the Exif-Viewer.com one).
- Jeffrey Friedl’s Blog.
- Jeffrey Friedl’s Blog » Camera Stuff.
- Jeffrey Friedl’s Blog » My Photography Tech Posts.
- Jeffrey Friedl’s Blog » Desktop Backgrounds.
- Jeffrey Friedl’s Blog » Pretty Photos.
- Jeffrey Friedl’s Blog: Photo Proximity Search.
- Jeffrey’s Lightroom Metadata-Viewer Preset Builder.

Foto’s 16e Katwijkbinse #Truckrun 2013: opstellen/aankomst Marine Vliegkamp Valkenburg, doorkomst Sassenheim
Posted by jpluimers on 2013/08/25
Brok in de keel” Read the rest of this entry »

When your Delphi XE Browsing Path has been destroyed Ken White to the rescue (via: Stack Overflow)
Posted by jpluimers on 2013/08/11
Something overwrote the Browsing Path of my Delphi XE installation.
Symptoms:
- When debugging a project in “use debug DCUs” mode, the IDE cannot find RTL, VCL and Indy units.
- When you type `System` in a source file, then press `Ctrl+Enter`, the IDE cannot find the source code to the `System.pas` unit.
It was faster to examine the Delphi XE Library registry settings from Ken White than comparing them with a backup or a fresh Delphi XE install.
Now it works fine…
