Letsencrypt and support for Google Chrome “Requiring Certificate Transparency in 2017”

This week there was the very important Google Chrome Announcement: Requiring Certificate Transparency in 2017 – Google Groups [Archive.is].

I’m glad that letsencrypt already submits all certificates to Certificate Transparency logs [WayBack] for X1 and X3 but there is more to it as you can read in How Certificate Transparency Works – Certificate Transparency [WayBack].

So there’s a [Google Chrome] Announcement: Requiring Certificate Transparency in 2017 – Feature Requests – Let’s Encrypt Community Support [WayBack and Archive.is].

Hopefully one or both of these issues see some progress soon:

Only the KB2267602 updates (all others are fine) failing on Windows 8.1 with error 8007051A?

On a Windows 8.1 system, I’m having trouble installing KB2267602 [Definition Update for Windows Defender – KB2267602 (Definition 1.231.456.0)] as it throws error 8007051A each time even after reboots, shutdowns, re-tries and using different ISPs.

https://www.google.com/search?q=8007051A+KB2267602 didn’t get me any further.

On other Windows 8.1 systems this went fine (this one has Visual Studio 2015 installed) as were the Windows 7 installs of KB2310138 [Definition Update for Microsoft Security Essentials – KB2310138 (Definition 1.231.456.0)].

I’ve not tried manual downloads from https://www.microsoft.com/security/portal/definitions/adl.aspx [WayBack] yet: anyone tried that before?

So you can have a lovely little old rectangular green French silver whittling knife. But if you mess with that word order in the slightest you’ll sound like a maniac. It’s an odd thing that every English speaker uses that list, but almost none of us could write it out. And as size comes before colour, green great dragons can’t exist.

Then I found some more references:

My mother language Dutch probably has a similar rule that I never knew but just subconsciously use.

For next year’s home fiddling project and a Somfy RTS hack that is not so expensive/clunky as the Somfy URTSI II.

I use openHAB and tasker as open source center of my home-automation. Use its bindings to knx, zwave, enocean, philipsTV, fritzbox, ifttt and network-pcs to control rollershutter, lights, multimedia, security etc.

It’s not app vs. wall-switches, thats interesting but the situative automatisation.

  • a wall switch near my bed to switch off everything in the house
  • automated rollershutter-settings if tv is switched on for not to be blinded
  • if it’s ringing at the door i can open it from my Moto 360
  • wheather-dependent automated control of my blinds saved me 500,- electricity-costs
  • led-signaling if any window is opened
  • jalousie and light-scenes instead of tons of wall-switches
  • sunlight dependent control of decorative lights in the house
  • remotecontrollabe per app, partial even per voice (“OK Google, shadow west facade”)
  • combination with nfc-tags: to enable a garden powersocket just hold your phone near to it
  • batteryless wireless enocean-wall-switches are perfect for kids loft bed or to stick it under the terrace-table

A modification to fit a 3.5 mm stereo socket to the front face of a Becker Mexico Cassette to allow use of mp3 players and the like but still retaining AM/FM radio and cassette functions.

Interesting…

We’ve such a receiver in our classic car (see 1970 Becker Mexico AM-FM Cassette Car Radio showing operation & sound – YouTube « The Wiert Corner – irregular stream of stuff).

It would be a great way to add AUX to it, but I’d rather not modify the front-panel. Since the 450SEL69 has plenty of room, I will try to see if the above instructions can make the cable external so the AUX connector will be either near the arm rest or the glove compartment.
