Anyone that knows what “peer sync token could not be validated” in copy.com means? @CopyApp https://copy.com?r=3NGul6

I got the message “peer sync token could not be validated” in the Windows copy.com app while accepting a share from another user.
The only Google search hit was Malwr – Malware Analysis by Cuckoo Sandbox.
Anyone has seen that message before?
After I’ve requested a new share half an hour later, and that one worked.

Hope this helps:
“We have found out what the problem is – just for us – this may not solve your problem.
If you try to share Subfolders in a root folder, you will get the Peer Sync Token error. So with Copy as with Dropbox, you can only share root folders. So if you have a folder ROOT1 which is not shared and SUBROOTA, SUBROOTB etc inside ROOT1, and you try to share SUBROOTA, the recipient can only download the SUBROOTA but cannot edit/sync it in their copy. You have to share ROOT1 but that means SUBROOTA/B are also automatically shared. This is a problem for businesses – and Box.net is better in this regard. Yesterday Dropbox announced Dropbox for Business – which seems to match Box. However, I cannot recommend Copy for Business – its not mature yet. Emails and support requests sent go unanswered. We are moving to Box but looking at Dropbox for Business also.”

Thanks for the explanation. In my case this was a kind of network hickup between copy.com and me.
You are right that copy.com is not very responsive, but on the other hand DropBox.com still has not solved the MAX_PATH issue that was reported 5 years ago (and I blogged about years ago as well :https://wiert.me/2010/06/16/watch-for-max_path-was-windows-pathname-max-length-problem-%C2%AB-dropbox-forums/).
Thanks for mentioning http://box.net, I’ll keep an eye on what they do.

See the last sentence: “After I’ve requested a new share half an hour later, and that one worked.”
