Winbox 3.19 can connect via MAC whereas Winbox 3.17 cannot

Posted by jpluimers on 2021/08/17

Not sure why, but Winbox 3.17 could not connect to out of the box blank MikroTik equipment at all.

Winbox 3.19 complains every now and than, but usually connects fine.

This was while configuring a bunch of [WayBack] MikroTik Routers and Wireless – Products: CRS305-1G-4S+IN.

So for my link archive:

  • [WayBack] …/winbox/3.19/winbox.exe
  • [WayBack] Winbox v3.19 released! – MikroTik

    What’s new in v3.19:

    *) fixed problem where Winbox could not login into RouterOS v6.45 (or later) router;
    *) fixed DHCP lease sorting by “last seen” column;

    What’s new in v3.18:

    *) fixed problem where winbox could not login in RouterOS v6.43 router for some users;

    What’s new in v3.17:

    *) fixed sudden disconnects from router (bug was introduced in v3.15);

    What’s new in v3.16:

    *) added back support for connecting to older RouterOS v6 versions;
    *) fixed crash when connecting to newest RouterOS on MacOS wine;

Winbox can in-place update ONLY from the connections screen; there the “Tools” menu has a “Check For Updates” option, after which it scans for updates, and if there is one, you can press the “Upgrade” button:
