Some notes on converting Twitter threads/tweets to Markdown

I’ve switched to either Markdown or reStructuredText for documentation purposes a while ago.
Often Twitter threads or Tweets are a useful addition to that, so it makes sense being able to convert them to a more portable format, especially since both Markdown and reStructuredText render well on GitHub (including Gists) and GitLab (including Snippets).
So here are some links that hopefully will get me going in the future:
- [Wayback/Archive] GitHub – kbravh/tweet-to-markdown: A command line tool to convert Tweets to Markdown. (written in JavaScript, uses the Twitter v2 API)
- [Wayback/Archive] Twitter threads to plain HTML – Benjamin Becquet (is still based on ThreadReaderApp; uses [Wayback/Archive] pup to convert HTML to Markdown and Pandoc for postprocessing the markdown back to HTML)
- [Wayback/Archive] GitHub – alok/thread-twitter (written in Python with a Twitter API, not sure which version)
- [Wayback/Archive] Tweetstorm: Convert Tweets to Markdown (keith/tweetstorm) – Autocode (JavaScript; not sure how to install or download it, but at the good thing is: there is source code at [Wayback/Archive] Tweetstorm: Convert Tweets to Markdown (keith/tweetstorm) – Autocode)
- [Wayback/Archive] The.Rip – Unroll Twitter Threads (closed source and requires way to many Twitter privileges: [Wayback/Archive] Twitter / Authorize an application
This application will be able to:- See Tweets from your timeline (including protected Tweets) as well as your Lists and collections.
- See your Twitter profile information and account settings.
- See accounts you follow, mute, and block.
- See your email address.
