Google Maps: Blue and Yellow Stars For (via: Kristian Köhntopp – Google+)

Kristian Köhntopp had a note post about Google Maps: Blue and Yellow Stars which he could not remove from within Google Maps.
In the end these appear to be bookmarks that you have to remove from Google Bookmarks.
He calls this a “complete UI disaster” to which I totally agree.
Thanks Kristian for sorting that out, as I did give up on that one.

knowledge worker tip: adding a Google Group to #Feedly using one of its RSS feeds

Today I learned that each Google Group has RSS and ATOM feeds. That allows you to add them to Feedly (a great online RSS reader that won a lot of market share when Google Reader got ditched).
This is how you do it (I’m using the Spring4D group as an example).
- Go to the group page https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/spring4d
- On the right side, click on “About” which brings you to https://groups.google.com/forum/#!aboutgroup/spring4d
- Copy any of the RSS or ATOM links and add it to Feedly.

- Streaming to URL that is based on IP-address or a publicly visible hostname (i.e. the DNS entry must be accessible from Google services).
- You can host in a public directory on a Google Drive.
- Lots of examples at Google Cast; start with googlecast/CastHelloText-chrome and googlecast/CastHelloVideo-chrome and googlecast/CastVideos-chrome..
- Android development is not yet possible as it requires the Google Play Services library version 15, which will become available when the Google Play Services version 4.2.39 has been rolled out to enough Android devices.
- Join the Google Cast Developers – Community – Google+.

How to Switch Google+ Stream from Multi-Column View to Single Column (via: TechnoDuet)

Subtle, as the “More” button got removed, but the Accessibility setting is still there:
If you also want to see the posts in ‘What’s Hot’ and Communities in single-column, then go to Account Settings -> Google + and select the Accessibility checkbox as shown below:
Enjoy the uncluttered and headache-free single-column layout of Google+ posts!
Now I can enjoy all G+ streams to be in one column format so it is easier to track the order of posts.

Remove email address from suggestions in To field on Gmail (via: Web Applications Stack Exchange)

Every once in a while, you have a wrong address in your GMail auto complete list (for instance when someone moved to another provider or you mistyped it).
This is how to delete it:
- Delete his email address from Other Contacts under Gmail Contacts.
- Reload Gmail and search your contacts for the email address to make sure you really got rid of it.

The Wiert Corner - irregular stream of stuff
