Does Odido (the old T-Mobile Netherlands) which took over Tweak Internet (they supported IPv6) already support IPv6?

Posted by jpluimers on 2026/01/12

I am writing this early 2025, shortly after Odido introduced “Klik & Klaar” for EUR 25/month: yet another of their internet products, this time over 5G, and yet again: no IPv6 support, just like their DSL and fiber products.

This post is a reminder to check if by now Odido has started supporting IPv6.

I know that at the time of writing, of the large Dutch mobile providers, only KPN supported IPv6, but both Vodafone and Odido didn’t. However, for Vodafone it is not a technical limitation: their bean counters need an upgrade to their billing system. The Odido back-haul technically isn’t ready for IPv6 at all.

Regrettably, The Netherlands has been behind on IPv6 adoption, which is a shame for a knowledge worker country. UK, Belgium, Germany, France, Greece, Hungary and even Russia are doing far better on IPv6 adoption:

Hopefully that has changed by now.

Edit 20261214: no, that has not changed, see a reaction at [WaybackFailed/ArchiveFailed] Odido verhoogt prijs van Klik&Klaar met 1 euro naar 26 euro per maand – Tweakers (which regrettably can neither be archived in the Wayback Machine nor Archive.is):

En Odido heeft ook nog eens geen IPv6. Anno 2026 loop je dan echt enorm achter.

Translated:

And Odido still does not support IPv6. Anno 2026, they are far behind.

Many links about free modem/router choice and their configurations for the Dutch KPN internet/VoIP provider

Posted by jpluimers on 2024/02/19

I wrote this post because the xs4all->KPN transition was messy, especially on the VoIP side.

Emails and letters were incomplete lacking some essential information for manual configuration; 2nd line help desk did not return calls; pointers to where to find correct information were lacking.

This kind of is a catch all post with most of the links I found without much of their content so I can refer to them later when writing a more detailed post on how I did get VoIP to work.

So: for my link archive, almost all posts in Dutch.

Ookla speedtest CLI for Windows has some undocumented arguments to accept license and GDPR

Posted by jpluimers on 2023/10/11

I had speedtest-cli running on MacOS and various Linux machines, but not yet on Windows (see for instance my post Ubuntu: Fixing the myserious “Failed to stop apt-daily.timer: Connection timed out”).

[Wayback/Archive] Install and Test Internet Speed with Speedtest CLI Command Line – NEXTOFWINDOWS.COM reminded me there is a Speedtest CLI for Windows download at at [Wayback/Archive] Speedtest CLI: Internet speed test for the command line, but I am a an automation/scripting/devops person, so luckily there are also [Wayback/Archive] Chocolatey Software | Speedtest by Ookla (don’t get [Wayback/Archive] Ookla.Speedtest download, as that is the GUI version).

Both the Chocolatey and winget packages are named the same, so that is quite confusing. This is how I have set them apart:

Last week xs4all internet really has shut down and two long term “buddies” suddenly have a completely different life

Posted by jpluimers on 2022/09/04

For posterity these two tweets from xs4all unixbeheer dudes:

For me it is a strange feeling, but for Cor, Jan-Pieter and some others that also stayed until the very last it is even stranger: after so many years (or decades) at xs4all their life suddenly is very different.

I wish them well and hopefully be able to meet up every now and then.

KPN vernieuwt abonnementen voor vast en mobiel internet, tv en bellen – IT Pro – Nieuws – Tweakers

Posted by jpluimers on 2019/10/08

Bye, bye ADSL…

Posted by jpluimers on 2016/12/27

As I got rid of some final hard coded IPv4 stuff, earlier this month I said good-bye to Ziggo cable internet.

Today, the xs4all ADSL line finally got disconnected as well:

My old trusty Fritz!Box 7340 showing ADSL got disconnected for good on 20161217

Which means that the years of running an xs4all DSL connection over mxStream, KPN FAST ADSL and xs4all ONLY are over. Oh the days:
