Reminder to check if Dutch teletext now has RSS or is cached outside nos.nl – (via @Schellevis)

Posted by jpluimers on 2023/02/18

Reminder to self to check out the results of these two tweets:

A few related links, most via [Wayback/Archive] nos teletext rss – Google Search:

The teletext/teletekst feeds are also not on these URLs:

The feeds site seems to be based on Feedburner which is a product that Google seems to be gradually winding down.

Oh: if you have DVB-C or DVB-T, you can filter out the teletext signal and host it. VLC can do the filtering towards a visual teletext representation:

Exclude replies from official twitter search widget (retweets now seem to be excluded by default)

Posted by jpluimers on 2023/02/10

[Wayback/Archive] Exclude replies from official twitter search widget – Stack Overflow (thanks Willem de Wit):

I found an option to include retweets include:retweets so I tried to change that to exclude:replies and it worked!
My search-string is now: from:account_name exclude:replies

Note that there used to be exclude:retweets, but that seems to be the default for some time now, as per [Wayback/Archive] twitter – Is there a way to filter out retweets? – Web Applications Stack Exchange comment (thanks [Wayback/Archive] jxd):

Correction: the checkbox is missing because using advanced search by username now seems to exclude retweets by default.

Facebook id numbers

Posted by jpluimers on 2023/02/01

Shortly after one of the many Facebook breaches, Miko from F-Secure posted this:

Mark Zuckerberg’s own data is in the Facebook leak. His Facebook ID number is 4.

There are no user IDs 0-3.

The only other single-digit user IDs in the leak seem to be:

  • ID 5: Chris Hughes
  • ID 6: Dustin Moskovitz

Other early facebook users include:

  • ID 11 Soleio Soleio
  • ID 27 Colin Kelly
  • ID 74 Daniel Mejia
  • ID 86 Jason Wen
  • ID 87 Emily Hurd
  • ID 102 Alex Lee
  • ID 104 Amy Ng
  • ID 139 Jeff Winer
  • ID 158 Teresa Grado
  • ID 185 Zach Seward
  • ID 210 Adam Levine
  • ID 287 Peter Buttigieg

And yes, they all have a phone number listed in the leak. That includes Mr. Zuckerberg.

Also, the Winklevoss brothers are not in the leak. (Source: [Wayback/Archive] https://threader.app/thread/1378694432652939264?s=09)

I wonder how you would get the Facebook ID of an account (for instance your own account).

The big-4 eavesdropping myth explained

Posted by jpluimers on 2023/01/30

Interesting Dutch thread about the myth that Google, FaceBook, Apple and Amazon are eavesdropping on us in order to send advertisements.

Great tags: #BugMagnet #IAmATester

Posted by jpluimers on 2022/11/24

I should use the great tags #BugMagnet #IAmATester more often.

#BugMagnet #IchBinEinTester”

Hugo, a static website engine written in Go: I might eventually switch WordPress to it

Posted by jpluimers on 2022/11/23

A long time ago, when just recovering from my december 2019 rectum cancer radiation treatments, I asked what Hugo was, to which tiara fan Jenn happily replied “[Archive] Jenn on Twitter: “It is a static website engine written in Go, … ““.

Like me, writing down or trying stuff is her way to remember things: [Archive] Jenn on Twitter: “For some reason, handwriting terminal commands helps to cement them in my head.… “

In 2021, Isotopp moved over to Hugo and I kindly asked if in the future he would help me out if I wanted to move from WordPress to Hugo.

The thread:

I will need to find a way to schedule posts though.

Note I archived Isotopp’s full thread at [Wayback/Archive] Thread by @isotopp on Thread Reader App – Thread Reader App.

Yet another interesting post (I think it is via [Wayback/Archive] isotopp, but I cannot find the original message any more): [Wayback/Archive] Migration from Twitter to Mastodon | ads’ corner.

Kris helped me motivate to enter the Fediverse, so here I am: @wiert@mastodon.social

Posted by jpluimers on 2022/11/18

Given Elon Musk taking over Twitter, I decided to create an account in the federated social network Mastodon part of the Fediverse realm. In my case it is [Wayback/Archive] Jeroen Wiert Pluimers (@wiert@mastodon.social) – Mastodon (which you can visit at mastodon.social/@wiert).

Right now the account is rudimentary. More meta-data and media will be added later.

Mastodon is open source at [Wayback/Archive] mastodon/mastodon: Your self-hosted, globally interconnected microblogging community and you can join via [Wayback/Archive] Mastodon – Decentralized social media (joinmastodon.org) after choosing a Mastodon server/website. I have chosen [Wayback/Archive] Home – Mastodon (mastodon.social).

Given a Mastodon has a trunk, messages on Mastodon are called “Toots”.

For now some of the Tweets and links that Kris ([Wayback/Archive] Kris (@isotopp@chaos.social) – chaos.social) posted helping me to start on Mastodon.

This is fine #Twitter (illustration inspired by KC Green; creation video below)

Time to be prepared:

The below will help you exporting your Twitter content (Tweets, DMs, media), perform some conversions on them and optionally delete (parts of) your content.

Important: keep your Twitter account afterwards (to prevent someone from creating a new account with the same handle).
