During a Cloudflare outage¹, I learned about [Wayback/Archive] Wisp.place Documentation | Wisp.place Docs
Decentralized static site hosting on the AT Protocol.
Wisp.place enables you to host static websites directly in your AT Protocol repository. Your Personal Data Server (PDS) holds the cryptographically signed manifest and files as the authoritative source of truth, while hosting services index and serve them with CDN-like performance.
This is the documentation of [Wayback/A] wisp.place by [Wayback/Archive] Ana (@nekomimi.pet) — Bluesky.

Cloudflare
¹ cloudflare was down including things depending on it like cloudflare status, cloudflare humanoid detection and downdetector. Some bits of a thread and responses (not in chronological order):
- [Wayback/Archive] Kevin Beaumont: “The Internet: designed to with…” – Cyberplace
The Internet: designed to withstand an nuclear blast, reroute automatically.
Four tech companies: what if we can bring it down at any moment by typo’ing a regex string, lololol
- [Wayback/Archive] Kevin Beaumont: “Here’s what it looks like from…” – Cyberplace
Here’s what it looks like from Mastodon end for anybody interested, green is successful queues, red is failed. Unfortunately a lot of the fediverse is behind antitrans supporters, Cloudflare.

- [Wayback/Archive] ZahmbieND: “@sylvie @GossiTheDog There is …” – Hachyderm.io
Sylvie the trainer who trains
@sylvie
@GossiTheDog Is there a pro-trans equivalent of Cloudflare that is affordable to fediverse operators?@sylvie @GossiTheDog There is Anubis anubis.techaro.lol for blocking web scrapers, and it’s developed by someone from the fediverse (who I presume is very likely trans-friendly from a brief view of their profile). Not sure if it’s as good as Cloudflare against things such as DDOS attacks, though. I’d love to hear more alternatives as well!
Things learned
- after so many US-operated cloud outages, a European Cloudflare alternative really is needed. This Cloud Kootwijk idea ain’t so bad! – see
- the AT protocol is something completely different than the AT command set.

Big sites like Twitter suffer from the cloudflare outage as well.
Catch-22: cloudflare challenges page has cloudflare trouble.
Ironically, this means that sites like downdetector fail as well as they use cloudflare as humanoid test.
Twitter cloudflare error message. Catch-22: challenges.cloudflare.com returns a cloudflare error message. Downdetector cannot verify I’m human because of cloudflare errors. Twitter cloudflare error message.
