I had a problem similar to [Archive.is] MX613ST Color space conversion issue (detects YUV instead of RGB) – Google Product Forums.
In my case I had a Chromecast 1st generation connected to a [WayBack] Harman Kardon BDS 580, which was hooked up to a [WayBack] Samsung MU6100 TV.
Everything, especially the white and grey areas, had a greenish tint over it, and I think there was also a purple mismatch.
I think it has to do with YUV versus RGB, similar to [WayBack] Force RGB Color Space over HDMI? – Apple Community.
Though I did not notice that with an Apple TV 4th generation (which you can switch between YCbCr/RGB-High/RGB-Low) hooked up to the same BDS 580.
The solution: plug the Chromecast in the TV, then the ARC (Audio Return Channel) will automatically route the audio to the BDS 580.

Even for Geeks like me, this is a great on-line tool for converting media files: [WayBack/Archive] Zamzar – video converter, audio converter, image converter, eBook converter
Thanks Matijn for pointing me to this.
And for nerds there is ffmpeg:
for name in *.ogg; do ffmpeg -i "$name" -ab 128k -map_meta_data 0:0,s0 "${name/.ogg/.mp3}"; done;

On my Mac OS X machine, I got this to work with the 20170731 nightly of VLC 3.0.
[WayBack] How to stream from VLC to Your Chromecast (3.0 Updated Version) – VLC Media Player only explains the steps for Windows and Android, probably because they were the first platforms supported by VLC to render on Chromecast: [WayBack] How to Stream Videos from VLC to Chromecast (Including on Windows, Mac & Android) / [WayBack] How to Stream From VLC to Your Chromecast
To make it easier for end-users, on other platforms the menu entries are different.
- Windows: Menu
Video -> Render
- Mac: Menu
Playback -> Renderer (not Render as shown in some posts)
- Linux: No UI yet.
I found this via [WayBack] Latest VLC 3 Nightly Streams to Chromecast Perfectly! : Chromecast and [WayBack] How do I stream to Chromecast using VLC? – Unix & Linux Stack Exchange
On Linux, there is the command-line for now (which works on OS X and Windows as well), or if you insist: use MKChromecast as described in [WayBack] How To Cast Video from Ubuntu to a Chromecast – OMG! Ubuntu!. [WayBack]Mkchromecast This is a program to cast your macOS X, or Linux audio to your Google Cast or Sonos devices with sources at https://github.com/muammar/mkchromecast
On Windows and Mac OS X, after choosing the Render, the steps are the same:
- Choose
Render discovery on
- Choose a Chromecast device
- Accept the security certificate for it

I didn’t need [WayBack] https://nightlies.videolan.org/build/macosx-intel/vlc-3.0.0-20170731-0451/vlc-contrib-x86_64-apple-darwin15-20170731.tar.bz2

The first method I try for any Apple TV issue is to reset the device (Hold the Play & Menu button simultaneously on the remote for 6 seconds)
Source: [Wayback] Fix Apple TV No Sound Issue – AppleTV2
This usually works for me too and is easier/faster than fiddling with the solutions mentioned at Wayback: Apple TV: HDMI audio stops working – Apple Support (which now has moved to [Wayback] Get help with audio, video, or power on Apple TV – Apple Support).
After releasing Play&Menu buttons, wait for the Apple TV to reboot itself and listen if your remote-buttons will give you audio-feedback from the Apple TV. If that works, then audio on multi-media works fine too.
This is way cheaper than putting additional hardware in the HDMI chain as described in [Wayback] The fix for AppleTV HDMI audio and video woes and HDMI problem solving | The Poor Audiophile
In my setup the [Wayback] Apple TV 3rd generation is hooked up to a [Wayback] Harman Kardon BDS 580 receiver/blue-ray-player.

A friend of mine made the mistake to capture some CDs using WMA files and throwing away the CDs. His old Nokia could play them, but not his new iOS and Android devices.
ffmeg and bash to the rescue:
find . -iname "*.wma" -execdir bash -c 'NAME="{}" && ffmpeg -y -i "$NAME" -ab 192k "${NAME/.wma/.mp3}" -map_metadata 0:s:0 && rm "$NAME"' \;
Tricks used:

Every now and then I want to download or play a (fragment of a) YouTube video.
This is what I use to grab the video as music: YouTube to MP4 & MP3 Converter and Video Download – ClipConverter.cc
Then I use Audacity to create fragments.
