Chromium/Chrome on opensuse Tumbleweed ARM notes
Posted by jpluimers on 2020/07/27
Somehow Firefox is available on ARM by default, but the crash recovery isn’t that awesome.
On my list of things to try is Chrome or Chromium. These links should help me find out if this is possible at all:
- [WayBack] Install package network:chromium / chromium: points to the right repositories.
- [WayBack] Index of /repositories/network:/chromium/openSUSE_Factory/: i586 and x86_64 only (same for [Archive.is] openSUSE Software: Chromium)
- [WayBack] Install package openSUSE:Factory:ARM / chromium: No data for openSUSE:Factory:ARM / chromium
- [WayBack] Chrome Web Browser: has no deep link for “Other Platforms”. The provided choices seem to be x86_64 only: 64 bit .deb (For Debian/Ubuntu) 64 bit .rpm (For Fedora/openSUSE).
- The “community supported” link points to the bug page of Chromium: [WayBack] chromium – An open-source project to help move the web forward. – Monorail
- There is a https://dl.google.com/linux/chrome/rpm/stable/x86_64/repodata/repomd.xml but no https://dl.google.com/linux/chrome/rpm/stable/arm64/repodata/repomd.xml nor https://dl.google.com/linux/chrome/rpm/stable/aarch64/repodata/repomd.xml
- [WayBack] Chromium ARM – EpicChasGamer.com: Debian only.
- [WayBack] chrome – How do I cross-compile Chromium for ARM? – Unix & Linux Stack Exchange: If I need to build for ARM myself.
