One year ago: I’m writer and free software author Pieter Hintjens and I’m dying of cancer, ask me anything! : IAmA

Posted by jpluimers on 2017/05/10

The end of April and early May are busy times for my marching band Adest Musica. The period includes important days like King’s Day and Liberation Day filled with festivities.

Right before Liberation Day is a much more sober Remembrance of the Dead.

To prepare for that, I usually try to put some time aside to do some reflection on the people I’ve lost over the years.

This year, I took a deep breath and read back through the, now 1 year old, [WayBackI’m writer and free software author Pieter Hintjens and I’m dying of cancer, ask me anything! : IAmA.

It’s till impressive and well worth reading, both because of the person (Pieter Hintjens), his life and what he went through until his planned death.

Even though Pieter and I only know each other electronically for a short time, I’m still proud of what I learned from him.

BEVRIJDINGSCONCERT OP DE OUDE HAVEN | Oranjevereniging Sassenheim

Posted by jpluimers on 2017/05/05

I will never grow up. I will grow, not sure which direction, but not up. – Via: When I was 5 the future was obvious

I will never grow up. I will grow, not sure which direction, but not up.

That was my response a long while ago to an interesting post by Marjan Venema: When I was 5 the future was obvious. I was going to be a veterinarian and take….

Now I need someone who can make a nice cartoon out of this…

“Mühle” (Nine Men’s Morris) game – via Google Photos

Posted by jpluimers on 2016/08/19

I found this stone game on the bank of the Ahr river somewhere behind the Ruland hotel in Altenahr around 50°30’58.8″N, 6°59’27.9″E.

Since I didn’t know what it was, I asked my G+ friends “:Anybody who knows what kind of game this is?” and got quick answers:

The game is thousands of years old and this stone will last for quite a while…
