Test telefoonnummer en -adres voor wanneer marketing je gegeven wil

Het is erg vermoeiend als de drogist, nagelstylist, of supermarkt het prive-hemd van je lijf vraagt. Meestal lekken die gegevens, dus het is handig om daar een persona voor te hebben met gegevens die weinig kwaad kunnen.

Voorbeeld:

  • Telefoon: Nul zes, twalf, vier-en-dertig, zes-en-vijftig, acht-en-zeventig.
  • Bezoekadres:
    Bezuidenhoutseweg 30
    2594 AV DEN HAAG
  • Postadres:
    Postbus 93374
    2509 AJ  DEN HAAG

Ja, 0612345678 is inderdaad een KPN test nummer.

En bij de Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens zijn ze meteen aan het goede adres om een melding lekkage persoonsgegevens te melde.

Hatig all these on-line portals of banks, mortgage/insurance companies, energy/water suppliers to get yearly information out: too disparate, too many UX steps

In the past, life was simple: you got yearly statements of many institutions like banks, mortgage/insurance companies, energy/water suppliers.

Those statements all had the same process:

  1. sent in an envelope
  2. statement were on scannable paper (A4 over here in The Netherlands)
  3. my Fujitsu ScanSnap ix1500 scanner (in the past a somewhat less fast Fujitsu ScanSnap ix500 scanner) scans and OCRs the statement into a portable and reasonable named PDF file in less than 30 seconds
  4. copy paste the required information into my administration software

Now it is a disparate mess of processes:

  • some come by email, but in various formats, often getting automatically deleted or bounced because some marketing person got their KPI, put too much trackers in it or made it look too much like advertisements
  • most by now are to be manually downloaded via portals
    • in all sorts of forms and user experience
    • having credentials that often expire within a year and need to be renewed (a lengthy process as incoming email need to go through a greylist in order to lessen SPAM)
    • demonstrating slow PDF generation (often 10s of seconds)
    • download them in formats needing post processing (like ZIP files containing the PDF files, filenames with names like “Download.pdf” )
  • often getting bitmap PDFs that have no OCR: just a plain bitmap that you have to type all information from

Dutch: briefjes van 5 euro opnemen (withdrawing small valued banknotes)

Vorig jaar publiceerde ik over Dutch: briefjes van 10 en 5 euro opnemen (withdrawing small valued banknotes)

In sommige gevallen wil je geld in kleinere coupures opnemen, bijvoorbeeld in biljetten van 5 of 10 euro. Het is niet makkelijk om hier informatie over te vinden, maar gelukkig bood de web-care uit…

Blog-posts zijn een tijd vooruit gepland en dat kwam toen goed uit, want ik werd ruim een jaar behandeld tegen uitgezaaide endeldarmkanker terwijl de zorg voor mijn verstandelijk beperkte broer doorliep: die gebruikt kleine coupures voor boodschappen.

Oorspronkelijk schreef ik bovenstaande post over de ABN-AMRO retailmix in mei 2019. De blog-queue is nu wat korter, dus schrijf ik dit eind mei 2021 nu er een overgang is van geldautomaten van de grootste Nederlandse bankketens naar algemene geldauomaten van Geldmaat, zie Geldmaat – Wikipedia.

Daar attendeerde de webcare van ABN AMRO me op: [Archive.is] ABN AMRO on Twitter: “Goedemiddag! Via deze pagina kun je dit nakijken, je selecteert dan de optie voor automaten die biljetten van 5 euro hebben: locatiewijzer.geldmaat.nl ^ Martijn… “

Tijdens het schrijven waren er nog 6 retailmix automaten over volgens [Wayback] Retailmix MKB – Locatie Retailmix – ABN AMRO

Met de retailmix kunt u eenvoudig grotere hoeveelheden 5, 10 en 20 eurobiljetten uit de geldautomaat opnemen. Bekijk bij welke geldautomaten dit kan.

Als je dit leest is de overgang hopelijk helemaal afgerond en dat heeft, naast eenduidigheid, nog een belangrijk voordeel voor ons: waar halverwege 2019 ABN-AMRO de enige bank was die coupures van EUR 5 had en dan slechts in de ongeveer 45 geldautomaten die retailmix aanboden zijn er nu meer Geldmaat automaten die dat kunnen.

Hoe sterk het is verbeterd kun je terugvinden op [Archive.is] Kaart | Geldmaat Locatiewijzer: ruim 100 locaties toen ik in mei 2020 de screenshot nam; hopelijk is dat nu nog verder gegroeid.

Als je de site bezoeken, controleer even of er onder “Filter” een vinkje staat bij “Automaten met 5 eurobiljetten”, want dat werd niet automatisch uit de URL overgenomen: [Wayback] Twitter: … Maar als je https://www.locatiewijzer.geldmaat.nl/?fiver=true opent, staat niet automatisch “Automaten met 5 eurobiljetten” aangevinkt. …

Hopelijk werkt deze link nu: www.locatiewijzer.geldmaat.nl/?fiver=true

When Twitter “twitter.com/i/timeline” fails (often, intermittently, usually for a few days, sometimes weeks)

Quite often, but at unpredictable intervals and durations, twitter.com/i/timeline fails.

I finally got the right search terms for this, so via [Wayback] twitter search your timeline – Google Search I found [Wayback] How to search your Twitter timeline | iMore.

The alternative:

  • shows most of the tweets from the timeline
  • does not show notifications (so you have to refresh every now and then)

Their trick is to filter your tweets on filter:follows filter:nativeretweets, then order by latest (the f=live bit below).

For me, this filter seems to work better: filter:follows -filter:replies -filter:nativeretweets as it allows me to easily include or exclude retweets.

I bolded a few bits above for readability; below you can see how the URI is formed from the filter parts:

Digital accessibility is hard; Wayback archival of: Formulieren – CIZ

I know that digital accessibility does not come for free, but it is mandatory in Europe for at least documents and web-sites provided by government and semi-government as per [Wayback] EN 301 549 – Wikipedia

EN 301 549 is a European standard for digital accessibility. It specifies requirements for information and communications technology to be accessible for people with disabilities.

I bumped into numerous tab-order issues when filling out CIZ forms. This makes it way harder for my, as now I require a mouse despite having RSI symptoms for some 30+ years.

Boomer screenshots: wondering why Windows still has no keyboard shortcut for saving a screenshot or screen snippet to disk

With the disappearing PrtScn buttons on modern keyboards, boomer screenshots are about the only way to easily persist a screenshot, as these are the only available Windows screenshot shortcuts:

  • PrtScn: copies full screenshot to the clipboard; multiple invocations overwrite the clipboard
  • Windows + PrtScn: saves full screenshot to a file; multiple invocations saves to new files
  • Windows + Shift + S: copies full screen or part of the screen to the clipboard, and allows manual action to start snippet tool to save the clipboard contents; often looses the image when on remote desktop connections or when copying something else to the clipboard; multiple invocations overwrite the clipboard

Now look at macOS what a choices, and how less messy than on Windows:

For macOS 10.14 Mojave and newer, you can even set the folder (default: Desktop) to save the screenshots to:
