Delphi and MVVM: the demo by Malcolm Groves

Posted by jpluimers on 2014/12/17

A small follow up on MVVM, MVP, MVC, OOD, etc: it is all about structure and using common sense:

When you want to do MVVM with Delphi, there is a great Delphi MVVM demo that Malcolm Groves gave at CodeRage 7 that is on YouTube.

A few resources you should look at after viewing that demo:

Some of it might work with Delphi XE2, but I think you need XE3 or younger for most of the demos.

.NET: case insensitive string replace without using RegEx (via: Stack Overflow)

Posted by jpluimers on 2014/12/16

Two ways to do a case insensitive string replace without using RegEx (which often is not a solution).

Thanks User Tim Schmelter for pointing me at those.

The Musketeer Video – via: Windows of the World videos

Posted by jpluimers on 2014/12/15

Yesterday I wrote about Windows of the World videos and quite a few people liked that a lot.

Today I remembered I lied a tiny bit. I did a one-off appearance in the field during the final performance of our show “The Musketeer“.

Watch me in the below video sneaking in from the back left into the show (at slightly after 16 minutes 10 seconds) and getting shot (at around the 16 minute 50 mark).

This performance in 2011 ended two seasons of The Musketeer which was one of our World Music Contest award winning shows. This time at WMC 2009 (our marching performance even got us to Wikipedia).

Out of the box, a MacBook can do tethering using:

I’ll point to two things about this below:

  1. WiFi is not always the best wireless tethering method
  2. USB is not restricted to iPhone only Read the rest of this entry »

Plek nummer 49. Set nummers 0..35.

Excessive CPU usage in WheaAttemptPhysicalPageOffline when using Intel HD graphics – via Intel Communities

Posted by jpluimers on 2014/12/12

I had some excessive CPU usage (30% on a 4-core system) inside WheaAttemptPhysicalPageOffline when using an Intel HD graphics 2500 GPU.

At first I thought I needed to convince IT to update the drivers: Intel HD graphics causing high CPU utilization | Intel Communities.

Then I closed all Visual Studio 2013 instances and the CPU usage went to normal.

So I’m suspecting a WPF issue somewhere.

Nostalgia: OSvirtual Virtual images of operating systems

Posted by jpluimers on 2014/12/12

OSvirtual is a collection of virtual images of operating systems.

It’s a resource for those who want to recall some operating system/distribution, to try unknown OS or just to play with the virtual toy :)
