Interesting, when you compare this with FireMonkey: native versus managed, and both good UIs.
Interesting times ahead.
In retrospect: storing the form in a DFM wasn’t such a bad idea after all :)

If that article is true, it means also FireMonkey was born dead. Because MS DirectUI willl become the standard, at least on Windows, and will be far ahead of FireMonkey. If it is ported to other platforms (and it is successful) it will be even a bigger blow. Unless Embarcadero could compete head to head with MS UI division, something I seriously doubt.

A big plus of DFM over XAML, is that it’s a simple text format with well defined base types and formatting, and not XML.
Thus it has a definite edge for manually viewing and editing, and especially, understanding diffs.

I partially agree; having an XSD for the XML is a big plus. But DFM readability is definitely better than XML readbility :)

I am wondering if it’s worth creating some kind of IDE Plugin for Delphi where you can edit your form (VCL and/or FireMonkey) in XML kind of style. I am actually thinking about that idea for a while now. Might be even cooler with FireMonkey now where you can nest your controls/components/effects and much more. Or anyone already created or creating something like that?
