Dell 3060/5060/7060 Micro optional video boards

Posted by jpluimers on 2025/07/07

It was pretty hard to find any model/part-number information on optional video boards for the Dell 3060/5060/7060 Micro series (also known as Regulatory Model D10U and Regulatory Type D10U003).

These models by default had HDMI (version 1.4) and full-size DisplayPort (version 1.2) and additionally could ship with these configurations:

  • no optional video port
  • optional VGA port
  • optional HDMI 2.0b port (which unlike HDMI 1.4 or DisplayPort 1.2 supports HDR10)
  • optional DisplayPort 1.2 port
  • optional USBType C Alt Mode (Alternate Mode)

There was (seems not available any more) a serial port (:

Further below are some links I found, but first a ink to a good post on differences between 3060/5060/5070:

Charging the Battery on Your Ring Video Doorbell 2 – Ring Help

Posted by jpluimers on 2025/06/30

Your Ring Video Doorbell 2 is charged using a common micro-USB cable (an orange one is included in your Ring box). The micro-USB cable can be plugged into any USB power source such as a computer. Your Ring Video Doorbell 2 will take around five to 10 hours to fully charge depending on whether the USB cable is plugged into a USB port or into a wall outlet.

Centurion Deuren: Gebruikers- & Installatiehandleiding KS-Serie (70 – 100)

Posted by jpluimers on 2025/06/23

Will need this: [Wayback/Archive] Centurion Deuren: Gebruikers- & Installatiehandleiding KS-Serie (70 – 100) [Wayback PDF View/PDF View]

The problem is that a combination of the buttons of the Centurion remote controls failing more frequently plus that the remote control are unable to teach their code to new universtal remote controls that we still had from our previous home which used a Marantec door.

Universal remote controls are supposed to be compatible with both Centurion and Marantec remote controls.

What I want to figure out is if I can initiate one new remote control from the door opening mechanism, then have that teach other new remote controls.

Hopefully this is the right manual for the model we have (the model number is not visible from below, so need to verify that from a location difficult to look from above).

Fingers crossed.

On-line PC part compatibility checker: Pick parts

Posted by jpluimers on 2025/06/23

If I ever want to build a PC again, this site helps me assemble the parts and check their compatibility: [Wayback/Archive] Pick parts. Build your PC. Compare and share. – PCPartPicker

Of course it is not a 100% coverage or guarantee, but it will you a lot of hints when on-line configuring a system.

This is the system a friend was configuring and I was quite positively surprised:

Software Downloads: Download UniFi Network Server – Ubiquiti: also known as UniFi Network application and apparently the successor of the UniFi Controller

Posted by jpluimers on 2025/06/02

After moving, I wanted to install new UniFi access points and upgrade the firmware of my existing ones.

The Cloud Key running the UniFi Controller software had long died (bringing that to market was a really bad idea from Ubiquiti in my view), so I started looking for UniFi controller software I could run locally.

From past contacts with other UniFi users, I knew there was some kind of Docker solution, but I hard a hard time finding it.

It looks like UniFi has been busy though and have three download lists coming back with essentially the same software, heck even point to the same release notes ([Wayback/Archive] UniFi Network Application 8.6.9 | Ubiquiti Community)

The actual download of the most recent version is at [Wayback/Archive] Software Downloads: Download UniFi Network Server – Ubiquiti.

If I understand [Wayback/Archive] Self-Hosting a UniFi Network Server – Ubiquiti Help Center correctly, what they mean is that the UniFi Network Application is an implementation of a UniFi Network Software that runs on MacOS/Windows/Linux.

You will likely have to download by hand as – especially on Windows – the package managers are versions behind. At the time of writing the version available above was V8.6.9 released 2024-11-06. This is what was on the package managers:

Setting Up a Raspberry PI with a German Mac Keyboard – Seaside Testing

[Wayback/Archive] Setting Up a Raspberry PI with a German Mac Keyboard – Seaside Testing.

Reminder to self: figure out where parameters for /etc/default/keyboard are documented in case I want to use USB keyboards:

  • from other manufacturers than Apple
  • with other language layouts

How TINY Can I go? The BEST Power Board is here! – YouTube – GreatScott!

Posted by jpluimers on 2025/04/23

[Wayback/Archive] How TINY Can I go? The BEST Power Board is here! – YouTube – GreatScott!

I will try to remake an AliExpress PCB. It is a very handy voltage converter that can take a varying battery voltage and convert it into 3.3V or 5V while only requiring very little current (25uA) on the input. Sounds awesome, but the board is way too huge. That is why I try to push the size limits in this video to the minimum.
