Besides the August 2025 XKCD infrastructure dependency inspired cartoon on the right, the more recent and great [Wayback/Archive] XCKD: Dependency derivative below is a monumental piece as it combines the recent:
- fiber outage of the Internet Archive
- DoS of Cloudflare by itself
- AWS us-east-1 dependencies outage
- Crowdstrike DoS of Windows machines
- framework-du-jour mentality in the JavaScript world
- many more¹

Voor mijn link archief: KPN telefooncentrales, waarvan een paar waar familie of ik een aansluiting had:
[Wayback/Archive] Wijkcentrales – VVDSL.robinflikkema.nl

Every now and then I want to check how a URL redirect, for instance when checking out why a domain failed loading in browsers a while ago because of certificate problems:
The thing was that back then, the site officially did not have a security certificate, but somehow the provider had installed a self-signed one. Most web-browsers then auto-redirect from http to https. Luckily the archival sites can archive without redirecting:
When querying [Wayback/Archive] redirect check – Google Search, you get quite some results. These are the ones I use most in descending order of preference and why they are at that position:

In the past xs4all.nl had a shell server. In the shell you had a WWW directory which was the route of your personal web-site.
For instance, I had a file there in ~jp/WWW/route/route.html which was served at:
Almost 25 years after KPN bought xs4all, it switched off the shell servers and these links, so I was glad with this warning [Wayback/Archive] Koen de Jonge on Twitter: “Morgen stopt #kpn4all met het aanbieden van shellaccess. Wij willen dat met #Protagio ook gaan aanbieden. Wil je ook #shellacces houden, kijk dan snel op: … #eerlijkecloud”

I wrote this post because the xs4all->KPN transition was messy, especially on the VoIP side.
Emails and letters were incomplete lacking some essential information for manual configuration; 2nd line help desk did not return calls; pointers to where to find correct information were lacking.
This kind of is a catch all post with most of the links I found without much of their content so I can refer to them later when writing a more detailed post on how I did get VoIP to work.
So: for my link archive, almost all posts in Dutch.
Found posts

A long time ago, I wrote about Wifispots instellen | Klantenservice | Ziggo « The Wiert Corner – irregular stream of stuff.
For that, you need a Ziggo VPN certificate, which you can download from [Wayback] www.ziggo.nl/content/dam/www.ziggo.nl/tools/WifiSpots certificaten/WifiSpots certificaat Android en Windows Ziggo.crt .
On many Android phones, that does not install the default way any more as back then.
The reason is that it is a CA root certificate (in this case identifying Ziggo as certificate authority) thereby allowing them to issue any certificate. This can be a serious risk, so you have to be really sure to trust them before installing the certificate.

I had speedtest-cli running on MacOS and various Linux machines, but not yet on Windows (see for instance my post Ubuntu: Fixing the myserious “Failed to stop apt-daily.timer: Connection timed out”).
[Wayback/Archive] Install and Test Internet Speed with Speedtest CLI Command Line – NEXTOFWINDOWS.COM reminded me there is a Speedtest CLI for Windows download at at [Wayback/Archive] Speedtest CLI: Internet speed test for the command line, but I am a an automation/scripting/devops person, so luckily there are also [Wayback/Archive] Chocolatey Software | Speedtest by Ookla (don’t get [Wayback/Archive] Ookla.Speedtest download, as that is the GUI version).
Both the Chocolatey and winget packages are named the same, so that is quite confusing. This is how I have set them apart:

This post is a reminder to myself to check if Fritz!Box 7490 can be upgraded to the FritzOS (sometimes spelled Fritz!OS or FRITZ!OS) 7.50, which is the firmware that introduced WireGuard on various Fritz!Box models.
Initially it wasn’t available for the wildly popular Fritz!Box 7490 series which, at the time of writing was still a current Fritz!Box model, has been very popular in The Netherlands because of (now defunct) internet provider XS4ALL started shipping it to customers almost 10 years ago ([Wayback/Archive] Property:XS4ALL – BoxMatrix). Currently Fritz!Box products are offered by KPN, Solcon and Freedom Internet.
So I asked [Wayback/Archive] Jeroen Wiert Pluimers @wiert@mastodon.social on Twitter: “Is there any information if (and hopefully estimate when) the @AVM_NL @AVM_DE 7.50 firmware is going to be available for the (in The Netherlands very well sold/distributed) Fritz!Box 7490 model? FritzOS 7.50 supports @WireGuardVPN: a big step forward.”
