ISO-8601: What’s the Current Week Number?

Posted by jpluimers on 2012/08/16

Quick way to get the current ISO-8601 based week number: What’s the Current Week Number?.

  1. Postulating standards and making all people use them only works in a perfect world ;-)

  2. ISO Week is an international stardard. The fact that the US does not follow this standard does not mean that the standard varies from place to place. Saying so is the same as saying the metric-system is wrong in the US because Americans use the imperial system.

  3. Apparently some commenters on that page don’t realize that ISO-8601 does not apply everywhere. Esp. in the US it is not commonly used …

That was exactly the reason I worked together with a couple of European people to get ISO 8601 support in the DateUtils unit in Delphi 6 which initially had Week 1 starts on Januari 1st.
Maybe in the USA, but not in the majority of the world (:
