Some paper tricks for your digital camera (in my case: Nikon D700/D300, SB-900 and various lenses)

Sometimes cheap paper stuff beats having no tools at all.
Two things you can use with your Nikon:
- Free printable cardboard lens hoods.
Far cheaper than replacing the plastic lens hoods that come with your lenses. - White or gray paper white balance grey card (I love the coffee filter mentioned at Flickr: Discussing White Balance in Nikon D700).
White balance is key to vidid pictures.
See the steps at Nikon D700 Top Panel and tips at Chasing perfect color, and common myths about white balance – Ming Thein | Photographer. - The Official Wacky Hack Paper Bounce Card (instructions at MAKE | DIY LADIG cutout bounce card) or even a pure paper one: Flash Diffuser | Printably or DIY: printable Nikon bounce card flash diffuser.
Far cheaper flash bounce than the commercial ones, even more fancy hand made foam board versions like The Jerry Blog!: Bounce Card V.4.0 and Snook’s Nikon SB-800 Diffuser are cheaper.
For built-in flash, even a sheet of paper will do: Stunning macro with D70 flash + paper diffuser, heck even Kleenex will: Flickr: Discussing Suggestions for a pop up flash diffuser?
For semi- or professional white balance, you’d probably use the WhiBal from Michael Tapes (the same guys that created LensAlign).
