Happy 50th birthday Microsoft!

Some beautiful old Microsoft logo material posted on their Twitter profile in 2021 on its 46 birthday and a few of their tweets:

Looking at the Wayback Machine Archivals of the banner logo, I saw two things:

  1. The logo is not preserved on the pbs.twimg.com server (which is the Photo Blobstore on their Content Delivery Network, see [Wayback/Archive] Does anyone know what is pbs.twimg? : Twitter, [Wayback/Archive] I often encounter a URL containing pbs.twimg (example: https://pbs.twimg.com/. Is this a legitimate PBS URL? : PBS Help and [Wayback/Archive] Blobstore: Twitter’s in-house photo storage system)
  2. Four resolutions are available:
    Microsoft est 1975 twitter profile images
    resolutions URLs (the originals on the Twitter PBS Image server are gone)
    1500×1500 [Wayback/Archive] pbs.twimg.com/profile_banners/74286565/1617552053/1500×500
    600×200 [Wayback] pbs.twimg.com/profile_banners/74286565/1617552053/600×200
    mobile [Wayback/Archive] pbs.twimg.com/profile_banners/74286565/1617552053/mobile
    web [Wayback/Archive] pbs.twimg.com/profile_banners/74286565/1617552053/web

    The actual images saved in the Wayback Machine are below the blog  signature. There you can see that the mobile and web banners got truncated.

Note that neither the Wayback Machine nor Archive Today had successfully archived the 600×200 image, that’s why I archived my own Twitter profile banner as well: the 600×200 just got resized, not truncated (click on the links for actual pictures).
