While avoiding someone colliding in me, I damaged the cap of the passenger side mirror.
Some links I used to get it off and replaced/repaired:
- [Wayback/Archive] E60 M5 – How to Remove Lower Mirror Cover ? | BMW M5 Forum and M6 Forums
- The first step is removing the mirror glass. Angle the mirror to peak behind it, there is a circular mount. A small tab (or tabs) must be gently moved to release the glass. A small screwdriver might work, but a “pick” works better
- Once the glass is out of the way, the tabs which secure the lower cover should be easy to access (with the same pick tool).
- [Wayback/Archive] Side mirror cap removal / replacement | BimmerFest BMW Forum (it’s for the newer F10/F11 models, but works very similar to the E60/E61 ones)
- [Wayback/Archive] How to remove side view mirrors ✅ Bmw e60 / e61 – YouTube (removes the full mirror, not just the painted cap: useful in case you broke more than just the cap)
- [Wayback/Archive] EVERY BMW E60 NEEDS THIS MOD!! – M STYLE SIDE MIRROR CAPS UPGRADE MOD – YouTube (only describes the steps, but does not show them)
