Visual Studio is a pretty big product and will take over 30GB of disk space after installation

LOL. It’s about half the size of recent Delphi versions.

The 60 GB or more Delphi requires during installation is because of unzipping into a temp dir and then copying over.
The biggest part of the Delphi installation is the binaries for 7 platform with 2 config each.
11.7 GB of my 14.6 GB Seattle installation is the lib directory alone.
So how much of that 30 GB of VS is the .net Framework and what makes up the rest? :)

About:
So it’s about 45 gigs for a full install from a 7 gig ISO file.

The shell alone has always been quite small. Most devs just click next. Some click every checkbox like they are gathering easter eggs and dare not omit anything. The vs “15” preview has a new lightweight installer. If you add the windows phone vms and android hyperv vms and android tools and xamarin and ssdt and all the web tools then you could probably top out north of 400 gigs.

Just managed to do a full install. 46 gigabyte uncompressed, some 30 gigabytes compressed.
